The Reason

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. You have no idea how much you mean to me.

When I started The Silenced Woman, I was in a toxic relationship where I couldn’t speak on my feelings without being told I was insecure. I couldn’t express myself or love the way I wanted to without being told I was doing too much or having the women in his life attacking me indirectly on social media because of his lies to me and them. I alienated myself away from my friends and family who didn’t like the man I was with, who saw through him but I was so blind that I didn’t.

I have always been a writer. I’ve hosted plenty of blogs that were the symbol of the time in my life at that moment, and once it passed, they were deleted. But this was something more. This was something that had to keep going because again, I found myself in a relationship where the man I loved was verbally and emotionally abusive. (Yes, holding out on love because someone ‘don’t deserve’ it, or calling your lover a bitch and verbally attacking them when you’re upset is abuse.) I began to speak up and dish back what I was getting, and it got worse. It started going down a path that wasn’t going to end well for either of us. So, I walked away. While writing, I portrayed at first that things were cool, that I was happy and in love but I was lying to myself, and thus the birth of The Silenced Woman. Now, I am in a place where I am comfortable in my skin and my truth and I want to use this platform to do all the things I’ve ever wanted to do.

While TSW is a blog, we have so many avenues and so many doors have opened up to a point where I can really sit and get involved into the community. I can sit and plan events to help educate women and help them to stop silencing their voices. My dream for TSW is simply to be an outlet to those in need. I want to create a network of resources that aids in helping and healing the black community. I want to give access to resources where we as black people can keep our money in our communities and rebuild them. As well as bless my readers and listeners with all my sophistiratchetness! (Yeah, I made that up)

I need the support and love of my community to help make this all a reality. Donations are accepted and even if you have a resource that is helpful to the movement please share so that I can get the word out. I am currently looking for sponsors, so if you are interested in sponsoring TSW, please feel free to email us and we’ll take it from there.

I get tired of people silencing me, not allowing me to be unapologetically me. This was my outlet to stop silencing my voice. Use this as yours, talk to me on any way that you can. I’m not a professional but more like that best friend who has the gentle heart to tell you what you need to hear, and a little of what you want, but I’ll be in your corner and support you all the way. We all need a cheerleader, you guys are mine and I am yours.
